Finding Motivation to Get Fit
According to a new study in the Journal of Obesity, women and men are more motivated to lose weight when their friends and family are motivated to lose weight, too. If none of your friends and family members are looking to get fit or lose weight, chances are you will not receive the encouragement you would like to meet your fitness goals. However, even if you lack the support you wish to have during your weight loss journey, you can get “tech-connected” with other fitness enthusiasts to keep your workouts fun, exciting, and challenging. In fact, researchers have found that when men and women seek support through social media, they have a more positive outlook on their diet and exercise regime. The following are some great ways to seek social support and enjoy every minute of your workouts:
1. Use www.mapmyfitness.com to track your daily workouts. You can then share them with your workout buddies on Facebook.
2. Search www.healthylivingblogs.com to find a fitness fanatic and blogger in your area. Follow her posts and ask her for healthy neighborhood routes, nearby parks, and hiking and biking trails.
3. Simply type in your zip code and interests into www.meetup.com to locate local groups, people, and events. For instance, you can type in “healthy cooking,” “mountain biking,” or “running.”
